Facebook introducing new rules regarding Facebook health groups and other Facebook groups

Facebook has introduced a series of new rules with the intention to curb the spread of misinformation in Facebook groups as well as make the groups safer. Facebook will be able to remove any group that violates its community policies and any member or administrator from a removed group will be suspended from creating a similar group for a certain amount of time.

The Facebook group is an interesting platform for people to share knowledge, learn, have fun, and do many other things for instance during the pandemic time, a lot of people spends loads of time on Facebook groups doing different sorts of activities however Facebook groups have recently been blamed for widespread of misinformation and conspiracies especially in a situation where Facebook recommendation algorithm promotes them.

According to Facebook, their latest steps to keep Facebook safe will cover about five areas ie stopping people who break their community policies, helping ensure that all the groups have admins, removing health groups from facebook recommendations, combating misinformation in groups, combatting organization and movements tied to violence.

How will Facebook detect contents violating its policies?

you might ask such a question but according to Facebook, they are going to use a sophisticated  AI that can detect potentially violating content to be removed by Facebook which means that even though no one reports anything to Facebook still they will detect the content and remove it quickly.

To fight misinformation in groups, Facebook will take down any group that violates its community policies by sharing false information, promoting violence, etc and the moderators and admins of a removed group won't be allowed to create a similar group for a specific amount of time.  If a group member violates a Facebook community policy, his or her future post will have to be approved by the group admin for the next 30 days and if a group admin repeatedly approves post that violates community policy, then the whole group can be removed or taken down by Facebook.

Facebook is promoting proper administration of Facebook groups and therefore any group without an admin will be taken seriously whereby Facebook will recommend the admin role to any member of the group and if no one takes it then Facebook will close down the group.

Facebook is removing all the health groups from recommendation. Facebook used to recommend Health groups to a lot of people on the platform using its algorithm and this was actually promoting the spread of misinformation in case such groups have contents that are not suitable for Facebook users. Even though Facebook will no longer recommend health groups to Facebook users, the group will still be allowed to invite people to join it as well continue with its activities as long as its keeping Facebook community policies.

Facebook will be removing groups associated with organizations or movements tied to violence such as militia organizations, Anarchist groups that support violence, and many others. Even the anti-government group's activities will be closely watched by Facebook to make sure they don't do anything that promotes violence.

According to Facebook, they have banned a violent US-based anti-government network connected to the boogaloo movement and removed 106 of their groups.
