On Tuesday 11th of August 2020, Twitter Inc(TWTR.N) rolled out a new moderation feature that will allow its users to determine people who can reply to their tweets hence giving an account holder more control over activities going on their page.
Twitter stated that all accounts including those of elected officials can select whoever they would want to reply to their tweet, this can be done during the composition of the tweet.
Users can select from three sets of people - everyone, only people they follow and only people they mention in the tweet.
The micro-blogging site, which had been testing the feature since May stated that all users can continue to like and retweet posts, but cannot only reply if they have been excluded by the author of the tweet.
This feature would enable Twitter users carry out better conversations and should be able to limit online attacks on other users in form of abusive words since it would enable the author of the tweet to have more control over his or her tweet.
Recently politicians have flocked to tweeter and it has become the platform where some even make announcements of policies even before in the main medias like in TVs, however they have faced a lot of criticisms from others who reply to their tweets with vulgar languages such as "F**" words which can be so much humiliating.
