MICROSOFT IN DEEP TALKS TO BUY TIKTOK.
The hot report coming in from New York Times states that Microsoft Corp is in deep talks with ByteDance to buy TikTok short video sharing app.
According to the Times , the discussion between Microsoft and TikTok was first reported earlier on Friday by Fox Business.
In 2017, ByteDance bought Shanghai-based video app musical.ly for $1 billion deal then they relaunched it as TikTok the following year. TikTok video sharing app has been very much successful having about 80 million users in America but has been been under scrutiny over mishandling of users private data and possibility of sharing users data with the Chinese Communist party government.
TikTok has been seen as a threat to US national security and president Donald Trump stated on Friday that he would sign an executive order as soon as Saturday to ban TikTok in the United States hence putting a lot of pressure on TikTok owners. However India put a ban on TikTok and many other Chinese apps last month therefore we might see the same thing in US soon.
